Developing an I Can Attitude

Your ruling attitude speaks volumes about you both from where an outsider is standing looking in, but also from your own perspective looking out and how you behave!

Your demeanour is a reflection of your ruling attitude, meaning your body language speaks to those around you in ways that you might not be aware of, but they are.

There are several different core attitudes that rule people from within. Some display a very negative, withdrawn demeanour while others put forward a very positive, go getter demeanour, with all levels of the spectrum in between.

The focus of this article is about the all-important, positive, "I Can" attitude.

Can You?

i canIf you are already very outgoing, positive and forward thinking, you probably also have that "can do" way about you that contributes to your success in many different aspects of life.

Strange as it may sound to you, the chances are you are in the minority in any room full of people.

It doesn't take a whole load of scientific, statistical data to realize that the vast majority of people are not particularly successful in life, with the real winners being in a very small minority.

Why is this?

And what can you do about it if you're in that unfortunate majority?

Take Action

It might sound a little contrived, but no one gets ahead in life without taking some kind of positive action to set in motion the wheels of the machine that will make things happen in the right direction.

That action may be applying for that dream job you always wanted, or starting your own business or just getting out of bed in the morning with a smile and a feeling of happiness.

The polar opposite of taking action is doing nothing and I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that no action ever got started and no success was ever achieved by doing nothing!

Yet it is surprising to learn just how many people actually don't do anything to make anything happen in their lives and they complain bitterly that their lack of success is nothing to do with them and life has merely dealt them a dud hand

Believe that You Can

We are all faced with many hurdles and obstacles in life that make getting what we want a difficult task.

When you do what most people do and simply give up at the first sign of defeat, you can be pretty sure you are not going to get what you want!

But there are some rather hardier souls around that don't give up whenever they face an unpalatable obstacle along their journey toward their own success. These are the ones who have one belief set firmly in their minds whenever they take on any task:

They believe they can do it!

No matter how difficult, complex or infuriating the process may be or out-of-reach their goal may appear, they find the motivation to get started and continue on with a firm, unshakable determination to "get there" no matter what. They are able to do this because they absolutely believe with every fiber of their beings they can do it!

So how do you nurture this "can do" attitude? How can you get yourself into this amazing mindset and never allow failure to stop you until you reach your success goal?

How to Become Unstoppable

You first have to get it into your head that there is no such thing as failure and every obstacle can be surmounted.

The way to do that in the beginning is to stop listening to anyone who tells you that you cannot do something you want to do.

There are plenty of well-meaning people around you that outwardly appear to want you to succeed. Yet deep down inside, while they may want you to win, they can't accept that you can do something they can't do, so they will unconsciously try to derail your efforts, often without knowing they're doing it!

You need to recognize when this is happening and get yourself away from anyone who infers in some way that you may not achieve what you set out to do. It may come in direct statements like, "You can't do that!" or "How are you going to do that?"

Or it may come in disguised comments like, "Your uncle tried to do what you're trying to do but he failed miserably," or "I heard there is a new law coming in that will make what you're trying to do unworkable."

The Company You Keep

To become unstoppable when you start to work toward a goal, you need to be among people who have your best interests truly at heart.

While the naysayers may not be deliberately malicious or detrimental to your efforts, their comments and opinions are not to be listened to, even less taken to heart!

When you surround yourself with positive, can-do people who will urge you one and tell you that you can do what you want to do, you provide yourself with powerful ammunition in your assault on that lofty yet attainable personal development goal.

Your Internal Mental Speak

Your internal conversation with yourself should always be positive. You should praise yourself for how well you're doing and congratulate yourself after each step of your journey has been successfully completed and you are ready to take the next step.

What goes on inside your head will ultimately affect whether you become successful or remain as you are, wherever and whatever that may be. Your thoughts are powerful influencers and here's the kicker:

You control your thoughts!

You decide what goes on inside your head. Your internal conversation with yourself should always be up-beat, positive, success-based and most importantly focused on already having achieved your goal.

You may not be able to do that from the start, but like any other muscle in your body, your mind needs to be exercised regularly so that it can grow and become stronger. You need a strong mind to achieve great things and that can in itself be achieved by daily promoting a mental attitude of "I Can."

At first, you'll feel it's all pointless nonsense, but when you decide to make an effort and get regular with your mental exercising, you will gradually get more proficient at it and before you know it become a master positive attitude creator!

You'll have developed that highly prized "I Can" attitude and it will take you to wherever you want to go.
